Note: The above age limits include a 5-year relaxation per Government Order No. 262 dated 29.01.2026. Ex-servicemen are entitled to relaxation equal to their actual military service plus 3 additional years.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 2nd PUC (Pre-University Course) or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of Karnataka. The following are treated as equivalent to 2nd PUC as per relevant Government Orders:

  • Class 12 examination conducted by CBSE, ICSE, or other State Education Boards.
  • Higher Secondary courses/certificates from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
  • One-year Vocational/ITI course after SSLC combined with a pass in one PUC subject through NIOS (with specific language and technical subject requirements).
  • Three-year Diploma after SSLC from a recognized technical institution (candidates from pre-2015 recognized institutions without Kannada as a subject must clear the KEA Kannada language qualifying exam).
  • Private study courses approved by the concerned university at the time of admission and verified against UGC records.

Mandatory Language Requirement: All candidates must hold a Kannada language qualification at least up to 12th standard/PUC level, unless exempted under Kannada-medium study or Kannada-language exam provisions.

Other Eligibility Conditions

  • Must be an Indian citizen.
  • For Kalyana Karnataka local cadre posts, candidates must possess a valid Local Candidature Certificate as per the Karnataka Public Employment (Reservation for Local Candidates in Hyderabad-Karnataka Region) Rules, 2013, issued under Article 371(J).

Medical Examination Standards

  • Vision: Distant - Better Eye 6/9, Worse Eye 6/9 or 6/12; Near - Better Eye 0/6, Worse Eye 0/8.
  • Hearing: Must pass Rinne's Test, Weber's Test, and Vertigo tests.
