The age limits mentioned above are for Unreserved/EWS candidates as on the last date of application. Relaxations are provided as follows: OBC (NCL) gets 3 years (29 for Engineering, 30 for Geology); SC/ST gets 5 years (31/32); PwBD categories get up to 10–15 years depending on category; Ex-Servicemen get up to 5 years; Departmental candidates get relaxation as per category plus service rendered. Qualifications must be recognized by statutory bodies such as AICTE, UGC, or AIU. AMIE and BE/B.Tech in Chemical Sciences and Technology are not accepted. Candidates must have acquired the qualification on or before 31 July 2026.
Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The selection for ONGC Graduate Trainee posts consists of three mandatory stages:
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Interview
- Medical Fitness (as per ONGC Medical Examination of Employees Rules)
Only candidates qualifying all three stages receive an Offer of Appointment. CBT is used to shortlist candidates for interview in a 1:5 ratio per category. Final selection weightage is as below:

The CBT is MCQ-based, of 2 hours duration, with no negative marking. PwBD candidates get 20 minutes compensatory time per hour. Medical standards reject complete/partial colour and night blindness; myopia within ±4.00 D is acceptable.
