Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Horticulture from a Polytechnic of any Agriculture/Horticulture University incorporated or established under the Central or State Agriculture/Horticulture Universities Act in India.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. Candidates without a certificate may apply but must produce proof of passing a basic computer knowledge test before appointment.

Single-stage competitive examination — Computer Based Response Test (CBRT) / OMR-based objective (MCQ) test in a single question paper with two parts:
- Part-A (90 marks, 90 questions): Reasoning & Data Interpretation (30), Quantitative Aptitude (30), Constitution of India / Current Affairs / Gujarati & English Comprehension (30).
- Part-B (120 marks, 120 questions): Horticulture subject-specific questions covering Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Floriculture & Landscape Architecture, Post-Harvest Technology, Natural Resource Management, Plant Protection, Basic Science, Social Science, and current trends.
- Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes) for both parts combined.
- Negative marking: 1/4th of the marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Qualifying standard: Minimum 40% in both Part-A and Part-B independently.
