Selection is conducted on the basis of a merit list prepared using academic and trade marks:
- Fresher Category: Matriculation marks normalized to 200.
- Ex-ITI Category: Equal weightage given to 10th marks (out of 100) and ITI marks (out of 100), totaling 200 marks.
- MLT Category: Higher Secondary marks (Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology) converted to 200.
- Tie-Breaking: Older candidates are preferred; if age matches, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier is preferred.
- Document Verification & Medical Exam: Candidates must clear document verification and meet physical standards under Schedule-II of Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.
